Utility chic
The utility trend is huge now. Loose fitting pants, military styled jackets, cargo pants and square pockets are everywhere. Besides all the beige, which is the hottest colour of the season, we see a lot of neutral tones: greens, creams, camels and khakis. Forget the “pop-of-colour” and go tonal from head-to-toe!
My tips for wearing the utility trend is to integrate it into your existing wardrobe, mix with your favourite pieces, especially with feminine elements. I wouldn’t go for a head-to-toe military gear in camouflage print, instead I suggest balancing out your military piece with a feminine one, like a pair of pumps or a soft white blouse. A crisp white button-down is an excellent choice as well. By teaming utilitarian and feminine I aim to get an equally rugged and refined look.
Cargo pants are my favourite and one of the most versatile pieces. As we head into the warmer months, lightweight trousers are essential. While it still may be too cold for bare legs, the cotton trousers can protect you from the seasonal chill and prevent you from overheating. Pairing these with your favorite sweater or blouse allows you to effortlessly upgrade your wardrobe for the summer and get a tough yet tailored look.
An oversized utility jacket is the easiest way to get the military look. Balance out the boxy fit and the large square pockets with skinny pants.
Wearing these clothes I automatically become powerful, bold and confident!
