Casual summer sightseeing outfits

I swore last year that I would pack smarter next year. Every summer I leave Norway for 5 weeks and that is why I try to take all my summer clothes with me. But that’s a lot! I thought that a kind of capsule wardrobe system would be the solution. Summer wardrobe essentials in the colours I like for summer (whites, khakis, beiges and blues) where everything can be mixed and matched for an effortless combination of outfits.

And it worked! Having my key pieces with me and sticking to the same colour palette makes getting ready stress-free as my pieces blend together seamlessly. It’s easy to put together outfits according to the day ahead. My summer style is a kind of off-duty cool look, nothing is too put together and polished. Both outfits I had on while sightseeing in Vienna were white-blue combos since they had to match with my bag - I didn’t want to bring more than one bag.

A sightseeing outfit, just like any other summer outfit, has to be comfortable but still chic and stylish. If it’s warm, it has to be light and airy too, so I wear mostly cotton and linen. The first day I wore a pair of blue thin cotton trousers and an off the shoulder cotton top.  The second day I wore a navy linen midi skirt and a thin white cotton shirt which I tied for more summery vibes. 😊 I love white tops for summer, they are fresh and they go with everything.

For shoes I opted for white trainers both days since I knew I was going to walk a lot. As mentioned, the outfits were built around the tricolour tote bag which had all my essentials for a day out. Although beach-friendly, thanks to the print and its roomy size, this bag is ideal for city exploration as well.
