Surviving Black Friday

A couple of months ago I decided to change my shopping and spending habits. The goal was to minimize my stuff pile, to know what I have, and to love and use what is already in my closet.

Then my biggest enemy came. Black Friday. The temptation was there. Sales and sales and “two for one” offers. The worst is the pressure “to spend to save”. But I resisted!

In earlier years this was the day/weekend when I went crazy and lost control over my spending and bought thousands of kroners worth of crap. Now I was prepared, I knew that I do not need any of those and I shouldn’t buy things just for the sake of the sale. I used to love sales, but I realised that it’s stupid to spend money that you didn’t intend on items you don’t necessarily need. I usually ended up with similar pieces to those that I already had at home in my closet. Another black cardigan and another pair of black boots.

Instead of the rush of buying new things I played with the pieces I already have. You can make so many outfits of just a few pieces! Changing the shoes or the coat gives you a new outfit. Not to mention the power of accessories!
