My Summer Hero Piece
I was so lucky that I went for a 5 week long holiday this summer. But this also meant that I had to live from a suitcase for 5 weeks. It wasn’t easy to decide what clothes to pack, I needed to make smart choices in order to have clothes for different weather conditions and different activities. That’s when I wished I was a minimalist and had a smart capsule wardrobe 😊
I think I can say that I managed this quite well - maybe I overpacked a little – as always.
One of the most worn items of my suitcase was not something fancy. It was a pair of shorts. These khaki, wideleg shorts were my go-to piece which I could pull off all the time for almost all occasions: for travelling, road trips, sightseeing, beachside excursions, barbecues, family lunches etc. They are super versatile, perfect for daywear, the shorts can also look super cool teamed with some wedges, a tee or a nicer top and layered necklaces for a dressed-down evening look. They are casual, but having a high-waisted style can be as polished as an A-line skirt.
Shorts are a perfect summer piece - when it is too hot to cover your legs they keep you looking and feeling cool. The key here is to pick a pair that suit your shape and that you feel comfortable wearing. I avoided shorts for many years but now I know that there is life beyond denim cut-offs and cycling shorts, too. 😊
